Small Business and Social Media
Has support for small business kept up with the times? Do Business Link, FSB, Chambers of Commerce promote social media as a way to develop new business?
More than ever, small business need to find new markets for their products / services and social media is one (free) option. Many small business owners will find it daunting / intimidating or simply will not have time to find out more about using social media in their business development / marketing strategy.
But – millions use facebook for organising social events, don’t they? Facebook is also a powerful marketing tool. How many small business owners have thought about how many of the people in their facebook network are potential new customers? The same goes for twitter / LinkedIn / blogs etc.
If you are a business owner, does your facebook / twitter / LinkedIn profile tell a consistent and convincing story about who you are and what you do? If not, you might be missing a great opportunity.
Traditional support organisations cannot not help, because their world is changing fast too.
What do small businesses need, then?
