If anyone is qualified to talk about business development, Sir Richard Branson certainly is. That said, there are some interesting comments in this article that bear further examination. For instance, Sir Richard suggests the success of Virgin is due in part to the organic nature of it’s growth. Of course, he is right. But at the same time, many businesses suffer terminal decline for this very reason. Most businesses benefit for having a structured growth plan.

However, this brings us on to the most interesting comment Sir Richard makes. He says that he and his friends made Virgin a success because they did what they enjoyed doing, following their intuition for new business ideas.

Every business owner should have a vision, a passion for the core purpose for their business and Sir Richard is a fine example. The point, though is that he didn’t know what it was when he started. He took the first small step all those years ago and started something big.
